PILOT'S COMPARTMENT
Note: This is a general checklist. Please advise your POH guide for accurate and complete details when flying your specific aircraft.
- DA Form 2408 - Check.
- Status today
- Servicing
- Weight and balance forms, if applicable.
- Battery master switch - OFF.
- Ignition switches - OFF.
- Flap selector - Full down.
- Crew oxygen masks - Check condition (3) (60-3762 through 62-4171)
- Hydraulic hand pump handle - Stowed
- Oxygen supply value - As desired (62-4172 and subsequent)
- Hydraulic panel, check -
- Hand pump selector - Normal system
- Emergency landing gear down, selector - OFF.
- Nosewheel down selector - OFF.
- Brake accumulator charging selector - OFF.
- Portable oxygen unit - Check.
- Portable fire extinguisher - Check (1).
- Access ladder - Stowed.
- Hydraulic reservior - Check fluid level.
- First aid kit - Check (1).
- Hydraulic pressure shutoff valve lever - ON.
- Cabin and cockpit heater switches - OFF
- Heater intake anti-icing switches - OFF.
- Emergency slide - Stowed.
- Main gear emergency extension handle - Secure.
- Cargo door’s master switch - As desired
- Fasten seat belt and no smoking sign switch - ON.
- Circuit breaker panel -
- All circuit breakers - Set.
- Emergency bus switch - Normal.
- Secondary bus reset switch - Down and guarded.
- FM power switch - OFF.
- Instrument transformer switch - Main.
- Bottom emergency exit jettison handle - Secured.
- Bottom emergency exit - Closed and secured.
CARGO AND PASSENGER COMPARTMENT
- Engine preheat outlet cover - Secure,
- Crew oxygen system - 1800 psi (60-3762 through 62-4171).
- Crew chief’s oxygen regulator supply switch - OFF (62-4172 and subsequent).
- Emergency equipment -
- Crash axe - Secure.
- Emergency exits - Closed and jettison handle secure (3).
- First aid kits - (3).
- Portable fire extinguishers - (2).
EXTERIOR INSPECTION
- Fuselage left side, fuselage skin - Condition.
- Left wing -
- Engine fire extinguisher indicating discs - Intact.
- Left main landing gear-
- Doors - Condition and open.
- Wheel well - General condition.
- Fuel system - Verify drained (3).
- Ground safety lock - Removed.
- Shock strut - Condition and extension.
- Brake assembly - Condition.
- Tires - condition and inflation.
- Weight switch plug - Connected.
- Static ground - Condition.
- Flaps - Full down and condition.
- Ailerons - Condition.
- Control surface hinges - Condition.
- Access panels - Secure.
- Wingtip navigation light - Condition.
- Wing surface and deicer boots - Condition.
- Landing and wing inspection lights - Condition.
- Accessories compartment vent doors - Check position.
- Propeller - Condition.
- Engine cowls and access panels - Condition and secured.
- Thrust indicator pilot heads - Condition amd covers removed.
- Engine air intakes - Clear.
- Cabin heater air intake (combustion) - Clear.
- Nose -
- Cockpit heater fire extinguisher disce - Intact.
- Wheel brake emergency air pressure - Check 1500 psi.
- Wheel brake accumulator air pressure - Check 850 - 3000 psi.
- Static vents - Clear (4).
- pitot heads - Condition and covers removed (2).
- Cockpit heater air/intake ducts - Clear.
- Nose landing gear -
- Taxi light - Condition.
- Ground safety lock - removed.
- Shock strut - Condition and extension.
- Steering disconnect pins - Installed.
- Weight switch plug - Connected.
- Tires - Condition and Inflation.
- Doors - Condition and position (rear doors closed).
- Crew oxygen system - 1800 psi (62-4172 and subsequent).
- Nose gear emergency air bottle pressure - 1200 psi.
- Access panels - Secure (3).
- Bottom escape hatch - Secure.
- Antennas - Condition.
- Cabin heater fire extinguisher indicating discs - Intact.
- Right wing - Repeat check as for left wing, plus -
- Cabin heater air intake (ventilation) - Clear.
- Aileron trim tab - Neutral.
- Aileron/rudder interconnect - Condition.
- Fuselage, right side -
- Fuselage skin - Condition.
- Anticollision light (upper and lower) - Condition.
- Passenger door - Condition and closed.
- Cargo door jettison handle - Secured, access panel closed.
- Empennage -
- Vertical stabilizer, rudder, and trim tab - Condition, tab locks removed.
- Horizontal stabilizer, fairings, elevators, trim tabs - Condition, tab locks removed.
- Taillight - Condition.
- Cargo door - Condition; ramp extensions - Stowed and secured.
- Cargo and passengers - Secure
- Passenger briefing.
NIGHT OPERATIONS
Prior to the preflight inspection, preceding a night flight, the following will be accomplished:
- Upon entering the flight compartment - Flight compartment dome light - ON, red or white as desired.
- Battery master switch - Battery master.
- Check lights for proper operation as follows:
- Panel lights rheostats (4) - Check full range; leave as desired.
- Anticollision lights (2) - Check ON, return to OFF.
- Warning light switch (1) - Check dim position, leave as desired.
- Wing and taillights (3) - Leave ON.
- Standby compass lights - Check emergency, return to normal.
- Magnetic compass.
- Airspeed indicator.
- Altimeter.
- Turn/bank indicator.
- Wing inspection lights (2) - Check ON, return to OFF.
- Formation lights - Check bright and dim position, return to OFF.
- Landing lights (2) - Check ON, return to OFF.
- Taxi light (1) - Check ON, leave as desired.
- Utility lights (4) - Check operations, leave as desired.
- Emergency hydraulic selector panel lights (2) - check for illumination when panel door is raised.
- Cabin dome lights (7) - check operation, leave as desired.
- Emergency exit lights (5) - Check operation, return to OFF.
- Rear entrance light (1) - Check operation, leave as desired.
- Cargo loading light (1) - Check operation, leave as desired. CAUTION: When cargo loading light is in stowed position, insure that the light beam is directed away from the cabin roof.
- Battery master switch - OFF or as desired for preflight inspection. CAUTION: If battery master switch remains at battery master position during preflight inspection, use extreme caution while in vicinity of propellers.
